Fr John Warrington

Fr John was born in Cambridge in April 1967. He was educated in Lowestoft in Suffolk, Hornchurch in Essex and in Norwich.

He attended Notre Dame High School in Norwich. Studied at Norwich City College and begun studing to be a Quantity Surveyor working for a Norwich firm of Stockings and Clark.

In 1987 he was accepted to train for the Priesthood for the Diocese and began his Seminary training at Ushaw College, Durham.

He was Ordained a Deacon in June 1992 by the then Bishop of Salford, Most Rev Patrick Kelly at Ushaw College and was Ordained a Priest on 24th July 1993 by the First Bishop of East Anglia, Rt Rev Alan Clark DD at the Cathedral Church of St John the Baptist in Norwich.

Bishop Alan appointed him as assistant priest in the parish of St Edmund, Bury St Edmunds following his Ordination. During his time at Bury Fr John was chaplain at St Albans First School, St Louis Middle School and St Benedicts Upper School. In 1995 Fr John moved to Peterborough as assistant priest in the parish of St Peter and All Souls. Here Fr John was part of the chaplaincy team at St John Fisher School and he was also Hospital chaplain at the Peterborough District Hospital.

In September 1997 Fr John was appointed Parish Priest of the Parish of Poringland and Loddon and also Bishop's Private Secretary to the then Bishop of East Anglia, Most Rev Peter Smith. In October 2001 Bishop Peter was appointed as Archbishop of Cardiff. In February 2003 Bishop Michael was appointed as the Third Bishop of East Anglia and was Ordained in March 2003. Fr John remained as Parish Priest of the Parish of Poringland and Loddon and also Bishop's Private Secretary until September 2003.

In September 2003 Fr John was appointed Parish Priest here at St Luke's in Orton. In February 2004 Fr John was appointed as Chaplain to St Thomas More School. In October 2008 Fr John was appointed Dean of Peterborough by Bishop Michael for 3 years.
